I GOT YOU (I FEEL GOOD)

20x60 mixed media on deep-wrap canvas  |  original artwork  |  $900

Inspired by the 50s/60s/70s music that I like to listen to while I paint. Recently, I have made some new work with powdered graphite more in the forefront of the finished piece. They are jazzy and funky and full of life. I have given all my new work from March titles from James Brown songs. The bright colors, playful marks, and dancing shapes made it easy for me to choose a song that we all know and love for its “feel good” beat.

FUNKY DRUMMER

40x30 mixed media on deep-wrap canvas  |  original artwork  |  $850

Inspired by the 50s/60s/70s music that I like to listen to while I paint. Recently, I have made some new work with powdered graphite more in the forefront of the finished piece. They are jazzy and funky and full of life. I have given all my new work from March titles from James Brown songs. The bowl and marks at the top remind me of a drum and the energy of its music bursting forth.

HOT STUFF

8x8 mixed media on deep-wrap canvas  |  original artwork, framed in natural wood  |  $75

Inspired by the 50s/60s/70s music that I like to listen to while I paint. This is the first of the “texture twins.” It is full of life with its wide variety of texture. The minimal use of colors help give this lively piece some calm but it’s still full of spunk so I gave it a name that suited its personality, Hot Stuff by Donna Summer.

NOTE: this piece is affixed to a handmade 2.5" deep wood frame for a modern appeal (not professionally framed so any irregularities present are due to being handmade)

BAD MAMA JAMA

8x8 mixed media on deep-wrap canvas  |  original artwork   |  $75

Inspired by the 50s/60s/70s music that I like to listen to while I paint. This is the other “texture twin” that is full of life with its wide variety of texture. The minimal use of colors help give this lively piece some calm but it’s still full of spunk so I gave it a name that suited its personality, Bad Mama Jama by Carl Carlton.

NOTE: this piece is affixed to a handmade 2.5" deep wood frame for a modern appeal (not professionally framed so any irregularities present are due to being handmade)

ROCKET MAN

12x12 mixed media on deep-wrap canvas  |  original artwork  |  $150

Inspired by the 50s/60s/70s music that I like to listen to while I paint. The bowl and saucer marks and iridescent color of pearl was so space-like and modern that Rocket Man by Elton John give new meaning to the relationships between the colors, texture, and shapes in this piece.

Life Could Be A Dream.jpeg

life could be a dream

12x12 mixed media on deep-wrap canvas  |  original artwork  |  $150

Inspired by the 50s/60s/70s music that I like to listen to while I paint. This piece includes an iridescent pearl hue and the plus marks in the corner give it a dreamy, magical quality that helped me choose the title for this piece by The Crew-Cuts.

AND I LOVE HER

12x12 mixed media on deep-wrap canvas  |  original artwork  |  $150

Inspired by the 50s/60s/70s music that I like to listen to while I paint. This piece was created for The Color of Love show and I chose colors that reflected a romance theme. The song by The Beatles seemed only appropriate since the burgundy stroke of color appears to be a gift of love from the cool colors on the left to the warm colors on the right in this piece.

NOTE: this piece is affixed to a handmade 2.5" deep wood frame for a modern appeal (see photos; not professionally framed so any irregularities present are due to being handmade)

THUNDERSTRUCK

24x24 mixed media on deep-wrap canvas  |  original artwork  |  $500

Inspired by the 50s/60s/70s music that I like to listen to while I paint. I was using powdered graphite for the first time and wanted to make a dark and moody piece with my favorite color, Payne’s Grey. The title Thunderstruck by AC/DC was the perfect fit as it seemed to take the left over bits of powdered graphite that peek out of the windows of white and bring them to life.

Inspired by the 50s/60s/70s music that I like to listen to while I paint. Music influences the way I move, my pace, and how I making my marks so the titles are truly a nod to my studio process. (won Honorable Mention at Ashton Gallery's "Going Green" show)
